The Solar Rodent Repeller emits sound waves that can drive moles, voles, mice and rats out of an area around it of about 650 square metres. It is especially suited for use in gardens and lawns. Every 40 seconds or so, it sends out a burst of sonic waves, which to rodents sound like their natural danger signals and so cause them to evacuate and avoid the area. The Solar Rodent Repeller is powered by a solar cell that converts the energy of the sun into electricity to charge up the built-in batteries. When fully charged, the batteries have enough power to operate the repeller through the hours of darkness and maintain continuous 24-hour protection.

INSTALLATION

The Solar Rodent Repeller radiates sound through the ground in all directions. To maximise the spread of the sound waves avoid positioning it near obstructions such as concrete walks or building foundations and for best results in large areas install one every 20 metres or so. The nature and density of the ground affect the performance of the repeller, so before installing it, check the ground. Solid earth allows best sound-transmission. Earth that is frozen, irrigated or waterlogged is not suitable. 1.) Dig a hole in the ground. Screw both pole parts together and push the pointed tube of the device into the ground. Do not use a hammer or excessive force as doing so may cause damage. 2.) Make an electrical connection between the upper part and the tube using the electrical connector provided. 3.) Fix the upper part of the repeller to the tube as shown. Be sure that the device is not planted so deep that water can enter the tube. The Solar Rodent Repeller should be sited where the solar cell gets maximum exposure to sunlight so that the batteries are be charged as fully as possible. When first installed, the repaller may require up to 2 days of sunlight to become fully effective.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

Except for occasional cleaning, the repelller requires no maintenance. It is recommended, however, that the solar cell cover is kept clean and, in winter, free from snow and ice. This is to ensure that the solar cell catches enough sunlight to charge the batteries. The outside of the repeller should be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth only; do not use abrasive cleaning agents, or chemical solutions.

These damage the product. • The product will be damaged through impact, blows, or by being dropped from a low height. A damaged device must not be used and must be disposed of. • The product is sufficiently protected against dampness and rain. However, it must not be exposed to direct water from a hose. The product must not be placed in water, e.g. in a garden pond or in a puddle. • The Solar Rodent Repeller should be installed where there is no possibility of a person tripping over it. Take care to avoid causing damage to cables. leads, tubes and pipes when installing the repeller. Check that there are no hidden utility conduits (e.g. water, electricity) in the area chosen for installation. Take care not to damage the repeller when working with garden tools and with machinery such as lawn movers, etc. • The Solar Rodent Repeller must be kept out of the reach of children.
